Hello my Lovelies! Have I expressed enough how much I love fur? Real or faux I could never have too much! Last year I found an amazing vintage wool cardigan sweater with cheetah print fur on the front of it. I loved the aesthetic of that sweater! So classic and Audrey Hepburn-ish. However, the cardigan was very ill-fitting and incredibly uncomfortable, so I decided to take matters into my own hands!
Sweater of choice, Furry Textile, Pins, Fabric Scissors, Marker (if you’re feeling it)…these are what you need for all of your furry sweater dreams to come true…And this is how it’s done…
1. Flatten one side of the cardigan and place fur fabric on top to just cover that front side of the sweater 2. Pin down the fabric to the sweater, about 2 inches away from the edges and side seam 3. Cut fabric to match the shape of the front sweater 4. Unpin fabric from sweater and place the cut piece on top of spare fabric 5. Pin the 2 fabrics together face to face and cut the spare fabric in the same shape as the first piece 6. Place both pieces of fabric back on the cardigan, lay flat, and pin in place around the edges 7. Sew fur fabric to sweater 1/8″-1/4″ in from hem line.
It’s even fun to wear because it reminds me of a retro smoker’s jacket. The animal print just spices up the whole outfit, ya know?! Super easy to do and it only took me 20-30 minutes to complete. Go now and fur up your cozy sweaters that need some spice!
